 New Jersey Violence & Vandalism Awareness Week
October 20-24, 2014 
 Monday, October 20 - "Sock It To Violence Day" - Students and staff are encouraged to wear crazy socks to school!
Tuesday, October 21 - "Stand Up Pledge Day"  Teachers lead discussions with students during Morning Meeting about what it means to be an upstander and learn the "Stand Up Pledge". 
Wednesday, October 22 - "Team Up Against Violence Day" - Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite team jersey!
Thursday, October 23 - "Team Building Day" - Students will participate in team building activities and cooperative learning activities in physical education class.
Friday, October 24 - "Roar Against Vandalism Day" - Wear orange and black to show your spirit for HW Mountz and Spring Lake and keeping it free of vandalism!  
Throughout the week the Spring Lake Police Department will be coming in during lunches to discuss ways to keep our school and community free of vandalism. 

October 20 - November 13 - HW Mountz Hunger Challenge - Remember to Bring in Food Every Week! OUR THEME THIS YEAR IS A BOX IN EVERY BOOKBAG, A CAN IN EACH HAND! All proceeds go to the Monmouth-Ocean Food Bank. We need your help! Donate today

October 23 - Board of Education Meeting-7PM​. NJASK Presentation & Student Recognition at 7PM.  Visit BOE page for more information.
October 24- DATE CHANGE - Middle School Beach Clean Up-  Our 6th-8th graders will be participating in community service to help clean up Spring Lake beaches. Permission slips and further information will be coming home with your child! Thank you Mountz Middle School for helping to keep our community clean! 
October 25 - 8th Grade Car Wash  9AM-12 PM at the Spring Lake Fire House​.  Please come support our 8th graders in their fundraising efforts!
October 28 - Mix-It-Up Day. Mrs. Walsifer and the School Climate Committee will be hosting our annual mix-it-up-day to encourage students to get to know each other across grade levels and age spans. 
October 29 - Middle School Arts Program- Debbie Cavanaugh will be here during the Middle School Lunch Period to discuss the Monmouth County Middle School Arts Program.  Interested students will receive information about this program. 
October 30​ ​- Halloween Safety Program-The Spring Lake Police Department will present Halloween Safety Tips and information for Grades PreK-2​.  ​
October 31 -​​ Halloween Parade -​ Are you getting those costumes ready? If you are taking your child home to get ready for our parade and festivities please return this permission slip by October 30th. 
October 2014 - HW Mountz students are decorating scarecrows for the Chamber of Commerce Fall display on Third Avenue! Thank you to class parents also for all your help.
November 6 & 7- NJEA Convention- School Closed...Enjoy some Fall Fun with your family and friends!

Chromebook Take Home Policy-  Students in grades 3-8 may opt to take home their Chromebooks for use on school work.  If interested please visit the Chromebook Policy Handbook under Quicklinks and return the necessary forms.  
OnCourse Presentations - During Back to School Night teachers in grades 3-8 highlighted our new OnCourse Student Information System and Parent-Student Portal.  Please view the PPT here and contact your child's homeroom teacher if you have any questions.
